Five Ferrari 296 LMGT3s are in action: alongside the two cars fielded by Vista AF Corse for the entire season, three additional entries from Richard Mille AF Corse, Kessel Racing, and Ziggo Sport Tempesta complete the line-up. The previous round at Spa-Francorchamps saw the Prancing Horse cars finish first and third in class, so the target at Le Mans will be to clinch victory.

The 2025 FIA WEC season reaches its halfway mark with the most anticipated race of the year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, celebrating its 93rd edition.

Following the test day on Sunday, 8 June, and a week of preparations including free practice sessions and qualifying, the race will kick off on Saturday, 14 June at 4 p.m. local time.

The premier race. 2025 marks the second year for LMGT3-class cars, and thus for the Ferrari 296, at the Circuit de la Sarthe. On its debut, the best result was sixth for the crew made up of François Heriau, Simon Mann, and official driver Alessio Rovera, who will once again be at the wheel of the Vista AF Corse number 21 car. Its sister car, number 54, is entrusted to Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci, and official driver Davide Rigon.

Richard Mille AF Corse fields the number 150 car for rookies Custodio Toledo and Riccardo Agostini, joined by official driver Lilou Wadoux, while the number 57 Kessel Racing entry features the pairing of Takeshi Kimura and Daniel Serra, another Prancing Horse official driver, alongside Casper Stevenson. Finally, the number 193 Ziggo Sport Tempesta car will see Jonathan Hui, Christopher Froggatt, and Eddie Cheever III take turns at the wheel, all long-time protagonists in the GT World Challenge Europe’s Bronze class.

The season so far. 2025 has already delivered one win in the first three races for the 296 LMGT3: at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the Heriau-Mann-Rovera crew in car number 21 took victory, while Flohr-Castellacci-Rigon finished third. Previously, each crew secured a fifth place, in Qatar and Imola respectively.

With these results, car number 21 lies second in the championship with 40 points, four points behind the leader, while sister car number 54 is fifth with 31 points.

The programme. Track activities at Le Mans, after the Test Day on Sunday, 8 June, begins on Wednesday, 11 June with the first three-hour free practice session starting at 2 p.m. This is followed by qualifying, shared between the LMGT3 and LMP2 classes, with a 30-minute session from 6.45 to 7.15 p.m., which will determine the 12 fastest cars advancing to the Hyperpole. The day concludes with a second free practice session under floodlights, from 10 p.m. to midnight. Thursday, 12 June features a third free practice session from 2.45 to 5.45 p.m., followed by Hyperpole 1 from 8 to 8.20 p.m. and Hyperpole 2, reserved for the top eight, from 8.35 to 8.50 p.m. The final free practice session runs from 11 p.m. to midnight. On Saturday, 14 June, a warm-up session from 12 to 12.15 p.m. sets the stage before the green flag at 4 p.m. (all times are local). Tifosi can follow the race via the onboard feed from the Vista AF Corse number 54 Ferrari 296 LMGT3, streamed live on Ferrari’s official YouTube channel.
