Comments ahead of 6 Hours of Fuji

Maranello 23 September 2025

The Japanese Fuji circuit hosts the penultimate round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship. The six-hour race – starting at 11 a.m. local time on Sunday, 28 September – will feature the number 50 and 51 Ferrari 499Ps entered by the factory Ferrari – AF Corse team, along with the number 83 car fielded by the privateer AF Corse.

Here are the comments ahead of the race.

Antonio Fuoco, 499P #50: “Three weeks ago at COTA, we were back on the podium with our number 50 499P: that result was valuable for our morale as drivers, and for the points we secured for Ferrari. We approach the 6 Hours of Fuji determined to remain front-runners, even though we know this Japanese circuit could prove one of the toughest for the 499P, as we have seen in recent years.”

Miguel Molina, 499P #50: “We are entering the final phase of the championship, and we know every point is crucial in reaching our main goal for the year – the world title for Ferrari – and in securing the best possible position for our crew in the Drivers’ standings. At Fuji, as always, we will give our all on a track that is special to me, since it was in Japan in 2017 that I celebrated my first victory in the FIA WEC with the 488 GTE.”

Nicklas Nielsen, 499P #50: “We made it back onto the podium at the last race in Austin, and we hope to achieve another strong result at Fuji. This circuit is unique on the World Championship calendar because of its layout, combining a very long straight with more technical sections that feature different types of turns. The weather, always unpredictable in Japan, and managing traffic and lapped GT cars through the slower sections will be key in determining the final outcome.”

Alessandro Pier Guidi, 499P #51: “Our first goal at Fuji is to do our best to secure the strongest possible result and stay at the top of the world championship standings. We know we won’t be favourites on this track, due to its technical characteristics – as we’ve already seen in recent years – so I expect a challenging 6 Hours.”

James Calado, 499P #51: “We’re currently leading both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ World Championship standings: confident in our potential, and having been front-runners in every race this season except São Paulo, we approach the penultimate round of the year aiming for an error-free race to consolidate our positions.”

Antonio Giovinazzi, 499P #51: “We haven’t achieved great results over the past two years at Fuji: the Japanese circuit has so far proved a tough one for us. I’m expecting a challenging race, but we come into it in good spirits, having scored valuable points for both the world Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ standings at COTA. We’ll hit the track with determination and a clear goal: to contest the top positions and try to finish ahead of our direct rivals.”

Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti: “We delivered a strong performance three weeks ago in Austin, and it was only a collision involving the number 51 499P that prevented us from leaving America with a greater points haul. Nonetheless, we maintained our lead in the World Championship standings, and we head to Japan aiming to defend it by achieving the best possible result. The 6 Hours of Fuji will be a very important and demanding race for the team, and we will approach it with maximum focus and determination.”

Ferdinando Cannizzo, Head of Ferrari Endurance Race Cars: “In Japan, we anticipate one of the most challenging and tricky parts of the championship, both because of the strength of our competitors and the technical features of the circuit. The simulator work done in preparation has allowed our engineers and drivers to test different setup ideas, aiming for the best trade-off at a track that features a very long straight alongside a highly technical section with slow and fast turns and rapid direction changes. Being able to quickly adjust strategy and tyre choices during the race will be essential for managing the unpredictable weather conditions typical of this region. Fully aware of the challenges – but also of our potential – our goal is to fight for the leading positions and earn valuable championship points.”
