Ferrari Challenge Races to New York

Maranello 23 July 2025

In the blink of an eye, Ferrari Challenge North America has reached its penultimate round in the United States and the event takes place at one of the country’s most beloved road courses – Watkins Glen International.

In between the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race in June and the NASCAR Cup Series weekend in August, Watkins Glen welcomes Ferrari Challenge this weekend and the competitors have come out in droves with excitement.

Sixty Ferrari 296 Challenge racecars will line up for the weekend’s doubleheader, along with more than 40 entries between Club Challenge and Club Competizioni GT.

A Trip to the Northeast.

Ferrari Challenge’s visit to Watkins Glen is the series’ lone trip to the northeast this year, with races in California, Florida and most recently at Indianapolis taking the rest of the spots on the 2025 calendar. It is also the second consecutive year that Ferrari Challenge has trekked to Watkins Glen, and the sixth time overall in series history.

A handful of dealers, including one north of the border, are relishing in the opportunity to race near home base.

Wide World Ferrari, located in Spring Valley, New York, brings three Ferrari 296 Challenge entries driven by Jason McCarthy – winner at Watkins Glen in 2024 – in Trofeo Pirelli, and Kevin Orsini and Anthony DeCarlo in Coppa Shell and Coppa Shell Am, respectively.

Also with three entries at The Glen is Ferrari of Central New Jersey. Series veteran Jeffrey Nunberg looks to improve from fourth in the Coppa Shell Am championship, and will be joined in the paddock by teammates Michael Mathes in Trofeo Pirelli Am and fellow Coppa Shell Am competitor Ram Chada.

Following a runner-up result and fourth-place finish in Coppa Shell at Indianapolis, Gary Ott leads the Ferrari Philadelphia stable at Watkins Glen. The team also welcomes back the Herfield duo of Matthew and Stephanie after the drivers forwent the most recent round, but contested the first half of the season.

Representing Ferrari of Long Island at Watkins Glen will be Joe Rubbo in Trofeo Pirelli Am.

Lastly, while based north of the border, Ferrari of Quebec is a short, five-hour drive from The Glen. Both Canadian drivers, Benoit Bergeron and Martin Burrowes, will vie for the Trofeo Pirelli Am class wins. Burrowes is the most recent class winner from Race 2 at Indianapolis, while Bergeron seeks his second podium of 2025.

Eyes on the Championship.

With two Ferrari Challenge rounds remaining in North America and the Finali Mondiali in October, championship battles are entering crunch time.

Following a Trofeo Pirelli weekend sweep at Indianapolis, Massimo Perrina (Ferrari of Seattle) opened a slight gap of 25 points over rival Dylan Medler (The Collection) in second.

Meanwhile, a narrow eight points separate Brad Fauvre (Ferrari of San Francisco) from Sebastian Mascaro (Ferrari of Central Florida) for the Trofeo Pirelli Am title.

Yahn Bernier (Ferrari of Seattle) returns to the track with a hot streak of his own in Coppa Shell. The points leader has won three consecutive races dating back to the round at Miami International Autodrome in May, but Mitchell Green (Ferrari of Westlake) in second place cannot be counted out with multiple wins of his own in 2025.

Gabe Hrib (Ferrari of Atlanta) maintains his position atop the Coppa Shell Am championship, but only by 16 points ahead of Michael Owens (Ferrari of Alberta).
