Ferrari Challenge Australasia comes to dramatic end at Phillip Island

Phillip Island 29 March 2026

It was an intense conclusion to Round 2 of Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia at Phillip Island.

A large crash marred the start of the race, ending the chances of many previous race winners and opening the door for new race winners to greet the chequered flag.

Trofeo Pirelli. Jim Pollicina (Ferrari Sydney) took the chequered flag after avoiding an incident involving his class rivals.

A safety car was called following an opening lap spin that required the intervention of a recovery crew. On the main straight, Enzo Cheng (Ferrari Sydney), Antoine Gittany (Ferrari Sydney) and Rick Armstrong (Continental Cars Ferrari) were caught up in a separate incident that saw them all exit their cars unable to continue the race.

Pollicina was able to clear away from Adnan Sibai (Ferrari Sydney) and Damien Hamilton (Ferrari Melbourne) who completed the podium finishers.

Coppa Shell. A maiden win for Masahiro Taguchi (Ferrari Brisbane) highlighted a strong end to the class battle.

Taguchi started from pole position in the Coppa Shell class and led the way for the entire race. Behind him, fellow Japanese driver Baby Kei (Cornes Osaka) finished a strong second ahead of Tony Baildon (Ferrari Brisbane) who scored his first Ferrari Challenge podium.

Trofeo Pirelli 488. Ross Tomain (Ferrari Gold Coast) completed the double at Phillip Island by taking his second win of the weekend in Race 2.

Just like his fellow class winners, Tomain took a clear victory after starting from pole, dropped to third before fighting his way back to the front of the class ahead of Jason Yu (Ferrari Melbourne) and New Zealander Rob Steele (Continental Cars Ferrari).

Schedule. The next round of Ferrari Challenge Australasia will be at the Shannons Speed Series GT Festival The Bend event on May 8-10.
