Relive the Prancing Horse’s heroic triumph at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, hour by hour, through action on the track and high-adrenaline moments in the “24 Hours in 24 Minutes” video, now available on Ferrari’s official YouTube channel. This chapter-by-chapter retelling combines the events with audio from the FIA WEC’s flagship race, along with driver interviews recorded in the months that followed featuring the winning trio: Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen.
The “24 Hours in 24 Minutes” video captures a legendary chapter in motorsport history – one that saw Ferrari claim victory at Le Mans for the second consecutive year with the 499P. The race also featured a third-place finish for Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi, the crew who had triumphed in the Centenary edition.
The story begins at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday, 15 June, with speeches from Ferrari management inside the Ferrari – AF Corse team garage, offering words of encouragement to the drivers and team members as the countdown to the race reached its final moments. One unmissable highlight in the chapter that opens at 3.58 p.m. is the echo of Le Mans’ most iconic words – “Pilotes, démarrez vos moteurs” – over the loudspeakers to signal the start of the endurance marathon.
The video offers the Maranello-based manufacturer’s Tifosi many previously unseen glimpses behind the scenes – some with a strong thread of superstition running through them: “We were on the starting grid with Miguel and Nick,” recalls Fuoco, “when I spotted a small stone in front of our 499P. At that moment, I turned to my teammates and said: ‘A little stone compromised our race last year, costing us the podium climb. Now I see one right here, on the tarmac in front of our Ferrari’s wheel – I’m sure it will bring us luck. Maybe it’s fate sending us a sign?’” Other behind-the-scenes moments transport us back to the long hours under the Safety Car during the night as heavy rain brought the race to a standstill. “It felt like a bad dream,” recalls Molina. “I asked the engineers to say something over the radio – I didn’t want to risk nodding off.”
A race like the 24 Hours of Le Mans always has its share of obstacles and setbacks. These included the retirement of the number 83 499P entered by AF Corse – the car that had led the race for longer than any other, completing 83 laps at the front – which was forced to retire at 12.01 p.m. on Sunday, 16 June. Then came an issue for the number 50 Ferrari with just over two hours remaining, with Nielsen at the steering wheel struggling to close the door properly: “I couldn't get it to close – I was really frustrated,” recalls the Danish driver. After a swift pit stop that enabled the mechanics to secure it safely, he rejoined the race and continued on his way to victory.
With adrenaline and emotion running high, even the final stints were packed with drama, as the number 50 and 51 Ferrari 499Ps mounted a decisive comeback to consolidate their positions and launch the Ferrari celebrations. “I want to thank the entire team and everyone who supported us,” said Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti, in his post-race remarks. “This victory was truly incredible and more difficult than ever. Perhaps it wasn’t even this complex for us in 2023.” A genuine team triumph, perfectly summed up by Nielsen in one of the many tributes featured in “24 Hours in 24 Minutes”: “There are so many people working behind the scenes: celebrating together with the whole team was an unbelievably emotional experience.”
