Car number 54 delivered the best result for the Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3s at the 6 Hours of Imola, finishing fifth with Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci and Davide Rigon behind the wheel. The number 21 car, crewed by François Heriau, Simon Mann and Alessio Rovera, was forced to retire after a strong start following a contact that ended their race. Here’s what the drivers had to say after the race:
Davide Rigon, 296 LMGT3 #54: “We had some difficulties early on during Thomas Flohr’s and Francesco Castellacci’s stints, but the safety car brought us back into contention. We had to pit a few laps earlier than our rivals, which cost us some time, but in the final stages, I climbed from eleventh to fifth thanks to an excellent pit strategy developed with the engineers, which meant we did a double stint on the tyres.”
Alessio Rovera, 296 LMGT3 #21: “It’s a real shame because we had a good result within reach – a podium, or maybe even more. François Heriau and Simon Mann did a great job, and the car performed really well in qualifying and throughout our race stints. We really could have come away with a strong result.”
