AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors' 296 GT3s will start from fifth and tenth on the grid for the 77th edition of the 24 Hours of Spa, the third round of the GT World Challenge Europe – Endurance Cup, which gets underway tomorrow, 28 June, at 4.30 p.m. (local time). The positions were determined by today’s Superpole session, contested in dry conditions and featuring the 20 best crews from Thursday evening’s qualifying sessions, which were affected by rain and several red flag stoppages.

Fifth place went to Alessio Rovera, who set a time of 2’15”794 in the number 51 296 GT3, which he shares with fellow official Ferrari driver Alessandro Pier Guidi and Vincent Abril. In the second AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors car, number 50, Ferrari driver Antonio Fuoco stopped the clock at 2’16”164 to secure tenth. He will be joined at the wheel by official driver Arthur Leclerc and Eliseo Donno.

Pro Am. The starting grid from 21st place downward was based on the average times set during Thursday’s qualifying. In the Pro Am class, AF Corse’s number 70, with Custodio Toledo, Matthew Bell, Blake McDonald and Riccardo Agostini, will start from third. Misfortune struck the team’s second entry, number 71, crewed by Luis and Mathias Perez-Companc, Stephan Lemeret and official Prancing Horse driver Miguel Molina, who was unable to take part in the third and fourth sessions due to an issue with the air jack, and will therefore be forced to start from the back.

Bronze Cup. Third-fastest time in the Bronze Cup went to the number 93 296 GT3 of Ziggo Sport Tempesta, competing in the championship with Chris Froggatt, Eddie Cheever III and Jonathan Hui, who were joined at Spa by Lorenzo Patrese. Fourth place went to Kessel Racing’s number 74, with Dustin Blattner, Conrad Laursen, Dennis Marschall and Zacharie Robichon.

Sixth position went to AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors’ number 52, with Jef and Louis Machiels, Marcos Siebert and Tommaso Mosca, who qualified just ahead of Rinaldi Racing’s number 12, driven by Christian Hook, David Perel, official driver Davide Rigon and Felipe Fernandez Laser. Twelfth was the second Kessel Racing car, number 8, crewed by Nicolò Rosi, Niccolò Schirò, David Fumanelli and Daniele Di Amato.

The race starts tomorrow at 4.30 p.m., with the 77th edition of the 24 Hours of Spa also counting as the third round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
